flashback to '89, i was about 5. with all the pleantiful free time i had while waiting for my fellow kindergardeners to finish their classwork, i drew.
i don't remember everything i did, but i remember batman. the tim burton version (although mr. west still outranks george and val in my book). His cape was flowing behind his legs, because I understood foreshortening. His eyes were fierce and his smile was ominous. i drew one for me, then my friend, then everyone else. being such a distraction, my teacher had to tell me to stop drawing batman for the other kids, unless they were done with their work.
that about sums me up right there.
i've always had 9-5s, with a lil extra on the side. from churros and purple acuvues, to trucker hats and ceiling clouds,i've always wanted to help people out, while helping myself. now i realize that i wanna help people by being myself. i'll design for me, even if no one's around to see it. but i've been fortunate enough for people to respect my vision, so i've invested into being visionary. felt like i was a jack of all trades, now i'm tryin to master one.
i used to say "i'm movin pieces like it's chess, so check me." now i'm just tryin to design-quality and perfection for people to respect me.
